I reviewed the winners for the past several years and noticed that blogs received the lowest grants ($15K on average). Is this because of the relatively low level of technology involved in developing a blog project versus some of the more technically sophisticated projects?

Could you elaborate a bit more on the blogging issue from the chat. Blogging tools as part of a proposal are OK, right? I'm looking at proposing a hyperlocal site.

During the chat, Robertson Adams said: "[T]here is a way to read the full text of applications for the 2009 finalists with a little Google magic. First, find the finalists listed here on the Newschallenge site and then put that in quotes on Google with the term 'generalapp' to read the original application as it was submitted. I'm not sure how long this will work because I expect the old apps will be cleared out once judging begins for KNC2010."
I tried this immediately after the chat and it didn't work. Has this information already been cleared out?
